1s to take the 1937 Auto Union Grand Prix car and do a lap at Targa Florio and to take 1958 Ferrari F250 and run a laps at Nordschleife. Both of these cars are very hard to control for me now and I don't expect to be able to even attempt these difficult tracks until I have a better understanding of them, especially braking, they both like to spin out. I'll be learning them while attempting my other challenges and hopefully learning to drive these two will help me be a better driver in the other cars.

What is it with Germans and long road courses, LOL! I took the MG A out again for this one, there are several versions in the folder, I decided on the long tarmac version. This an extremely fun and somewhat difficult track to get around and let's not forget the scenery! You almost wreck looking how beautifully the track makers did on this. Again not a stelar lap 12.30 for this 11 mile road course, that my be an up coming challenge to take the low powered MG A and try to do a mile a minute on these long road courses. I'd highly recommend getting this track to anyone who has rFactor, I think they also did this got GTL and GTR2, but I'm not sure. I know it's a GPL conversion also, but have never run it in that. aiI decided today was the day I was going to check off something I've been wanting to complete and been putting off until I download the 1958 MG A that actually raced there, it was by no means a world record lap, far from it. I was doing good threw the first sector going a little faster than a mile a minute, by the end of the first sector I was doing pretty good or so I thought, threw the second sector I had one semi bad off track blunder, but recovered quickly and still thought I was making good time, the the track gets really twisty with multiple hairpin turns and lost a ton of time with one huge off track excursion and a minor spin out just tying to complete the lap, then I totally missed the last turn and lost a good bit of time, probably 10 to 15 seconds getting the car out of a corner and turned around. It was fun to do regardless of the fact it took me 63 minutes to do the lap. Will I do it again? Maybe, but not for a while, a long while :). It looks like the track makers got tired of doing camera for the 45 mile beast and after sector 2 there aren't any good shots to be had, so the slide show will have what I took from sectors one and two, I also forgot to take a shot of me crossing the finish line. So, I spent about an hour adjusting on the car, one trying to get rid of the drag and trying to find something to help me go a little faster. Well I managed to knock about a second off my fast time, turn 19 actually seems to be the one turn I'm always over driving, I'm probably losing up to two seconds going off track and gathering the car up. I'm figuring out how to get threw turns three threw nine a little faster and am actually beating my sector time there at lot, I'm hoping I can knock off a couple more seconds the next time I take a run at it. So, after getting a little frustrated by the fact I couldn't get faster at C.O.T.A. I decided to have a little mindless fun with the sim that got me started doing all of this, NASCAR Racing 2003 Season using the Splash'N'Go 1998 mod at Daytona BR, a version of the track I haven't been on in almost 10 years.
I've been running laps at C.O.T.A. adjusting the set and trying to shorten my braking distance, the car still drags in front and I don't know how bad it's affecting my speed or when I'm hard on the break especially after the front and back straight. I'm still running 1.58/1.57, so there's improvement I still need to do.
I haven't ran any laps at The Ring for a few days, I'll get back to that either tonight or tomorrow. I have picked out my next challenges tho. I'm going to take a 1970 Lola T70 Mk38 and learn and cut fast laps around 1970 laps times at Le Mans, Spa Francorchamps and The Ring for sure. I was attempting to do this with the 2017 mod, but at my skill level I can't drive it, so I'm doing this with the 2016 mod. The goal is to cut a sub 1.45. Last night my first timed laps were around 2.05 with the dragging at high speed, as I raised the ride height I got faster, I also had to increase grip since the car was also getting looser the higher I raised it, first I added a little wing, then I moved on to the mechanical adjustments. Some runs I just went out and check to see how hard the car was dragging and didn't take a timed lap. The last timed lap I took was a 1.57 and change, so I really don't have that far to go.
I'm using the #33 of Max Verstappen since there's no templates for this mod and I really not in the mod to paint at the moment. I have quite a few vintage sports cars and tracks, I might just challenge myself to get some fast laps in.
When I started this quest last year I thought I was going to use an F3 open wheel car, but I found that car wasn't suitable for the task at hand. So I chose to go with the Chevy Cobalt from the GT Shift 2. I've come a long way, from not even getting the sim(rFactor is the sim I'll be using unless otherwise noted) to my first timed lap being over 15 minutes, yeah, that bad. I've steadily cut that down to my current fast lap of 10.24.
